Mitsubishi engines hold significant influence in both the automotive and industrial sectors. Renowned for their advanced technology and high reliability, Mitsubishi engines are manufactured using cutting-edge techniques and durable components, ensuring stable performance under various operating conditions. They feature excellent fuel efficiency, utilizing technologies such as variable valve timing to improve fuel utilization. Their power output is also outstanding—thanks to advanced combustion technology and turbocharging systems, they provide high torque at low RPMs, resulting in strong vehicle start-up and acceleration performance. Additionally, they offer excellent environmental performance, meeting stringent emission standards with relatively low noise levels.

For example, the 4G9 engine series features a compact structure. Compared to engines of the same displacement, it has smaller dimensions and lighter weight. It uses high-efficiency combustion methods like rolling combustion and optimized fuel injection, resulting in low noise and emissions that meet Euro Stage 3 and 4 standards, while also maintaining low fuel consumption rates.

Mitsubishi also collaborates with Shanghai Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. In 2012, the two companies jointly established Shanghai MHI Engine Co., Ltd., with a registered capital of RMB 200 million and each party holding a 50% stake. The joint venture primarily produces various models of the S6R2/S12R/S16R engine series under a technical license from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, with power output ranging from 500kW to 2000kW. These engines are mainly used for land-based generator sets. The engines are developed and manufactured to the same technical standards, production levels, and quality controls as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Benefiting from Mitsubishi’s integrated development of fuel systems and complete engines, these products deliver high power output, high stability, and low emissions.

The aim of this collaboration is to tap into the rapidly growing Chinese industrial diesel engine market by leveraging Shanghai Diesel’s extensive domestic network for procurement, sales, and after-sales service—offering more competitively priced products to gain greater market share.
